26 Dec, 2018

ANP's general secretary Mian Iftikhar Hussain has said that none of the institute is immunity from accountability, adding instead of targeting only politicians, the holding of all institutions is need of the hour. In a statement issued here on Tuesday, he said that combating threats confronting democracy all democratic forces should sit together to search out solution to the problems faced by the country.
The veteran politician expressed surprise that since the establishment of the country to till today, accountability had begun from politicians and end on them while no other institution had been brought before the court of law for accountability. He said that Pervez Musharraf, an accused under Article 6 of the Constitution is in abroad and those who attempted to put him on trial are summoned.
He said that opposition had always been victimized in the name of accountability in the history of the country and those on helm of affairs enjoyed immunity. Mian Iftikhar said that judicious and indiscriminate accountability is its demand since its very inception.
But, the sitting rulers have also used it as weapon against the opposition.
He said that accountability in the country should be independent and impartial. He said that the real objective of the government is the annulment of the 18th Constitutional Amendment for which Imran Khan is lacking the required parliamentary strength and now for giving him two-thirds majority, the drama of the mid-term polls will be staged.
The veteran politician urged all opposition parties to join hands for the maintaining of peace and stability of democracy and economy to adopt future line of action to benefit both the country and nation.
