Federal Minister for Railways Shaikh. Rashid Ahmed said on Friday that Pakistan Railways was grateful to Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar for issuing order of disposing of 123 top priority cases of the organization within 60 days. The Minister was talking to media at the Railways Headquarters. He said he had told the Chief Justice that 1490 civil cases, besides the top priority 124 cases, are pending with various civil courts since 1990 where litigation relating to billions of rupees railways property is involved.
He said the case of Royal Palm was the most important in the list of PR cases. "The Chief Justice not only heard the case but also directed Ferguson Company to carry out audit of Royal Palm. It would be followed by a final verdict of the court on 4th of January," he added. He said that Pakistan Railways has decided to take up other property cases as well.
According to him, the organization has to receive Rs 2 billion from the operators of Business Train. Further, he added, the case of Shalimar Hospital would also be taken to the Supreme Court which is pending before the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).
