The Lahore Electric Supply Company (Lesco) is carrying out three hours loadshedding on all feeders of category-1 line losses while load shedding on feeders with high losses is as per policy, said a spokesman of the company.
He claimed that transmission system of the company was quite intact. However, there was no mention about the status of shortage of supply from the national grid. It may be noted that power supply to the LESCO has been reduced by 1000 megawatt since the transmission system has been affected by heavy fog. However, tripping of feeders is quite rampant that has led to load shedding after every alternate hour.
In particular, the trading markets in the city were the worst hit by the phenomenon of load shedding and trading activities have been affected badly due to high rate of load shedding. Traders are of the view that no trading activity has been taking place over the last five days.
Dismal trading activities were registered at Shah Alam Market, Brandrath Road, Urdu Bazar, Azam Cloth Market, Badami Bagh Auto Parts Market, Beden Road, Shalimar Model Town Link Road and Gulberg throughout Saturday. Both unannounced and long hours load shedding has the upside down in all major markets in the city. The electronics and mobile repair shop owners were up in their arms, criticizing the government for its inability to supply electricity. They said all trading activities have come to a standstill due to non-supply of electricity. Traders have urged the government to up-grade transmission system in order to overcome transmission discrepancies once and for all for uninterrupted power supply.
