10,000 suspects held, arms seized in KP

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police has rounded up nearly ten thousand suspects and recovered huge cache of arms and ammunitions in a crackdown against criminals and anti-social elements launched on the directives of Inspector General of Police (IGP) under the National Action Plan (NAP) in the province. During the campaign, a total of 5511 search and strike and snap checking operations were conducted in different parts of the province in last 15 days in which 9893 suspects were arrested and recovered 1158 arms of different kind and 17682 cartridges of different bore.
During the operations, 23791 houses were also checked and 637 FIRs were registered for non-submission of tenant information forms. Similarly, 71 FIRs were lodged against hotels for non-verification of guests. Likewise security inspections of educational institutions were also carried out and 31 FIRs were registered against educational institutions for insecurity arrangements.
During snap checking on 4717 check points, a total of 5920 suspects were held and recovered 464 arms of different kind and 8403 rounds of different bore. In action against illegal immigrants, a total of 2 Afghans were detained on the charges of without registration and valid documents.
Similarly, 64 cases were registered on misuse of loud speaker and 72 persons were taken into police custody. The police also lodged 6 FIRs against bus terminals for insufficient security arrangements. 252 FIRs were registered for insufficient security arrangements for vulnerable establishment and places.
