The Karachi Port handled 274,794 tonnes of cargo comprising 192,670 tonnes of import cargo and 82,124 tonnes of export cargo including 9,351 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Monday. The total import cargos of 192,670 tonnes comprised of 61,365 tonnes of containerised cargo; 30,398 tonnes of bulk cargo; 4,160 tonnes of Soya bean seeds; 3,500 tonnes of rock phosphate and 93,247 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargos of 82,124 tonnes comprised of 41,716 tonnes of containerised cargo; 480 tonnes of bulk cargo; 32,524 tonnes of clinker; 5,404 tonnes of rice and 2,000 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
As many as 9,351 containers comprising of 3,290 containers import and 6,061 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 1,217 of 20's and 949 of 40's loaded while 11 of 20's and 82 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 1,115 of 20's and 408 of 40's loaded containers while 482 of 20's and 1,824 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were nine ships namely Northern Discovery, Polo, MSC Mirella, Palomar, Asavari, MT Lahore, Oriental Rose, Serene Juniper and Efes carrying containers, oil tankers, clinker and general cargo sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were twelve vessels viz. Hyundai New York, Ever Decent, MS Tiger, Oriental Rose, Stolt Calluna, Mid Osprey, SFL Kate, Zenith Leader, Zanpol Force, Ioanna Pol, Efes and Kiveli carrying containers, oil tankers, rock phosphate, vehicle and general cargo currently at the berths.
A cargo volume of 181,226 tonnes comprising 154,626 tonnes of import cargo and 26,600 tonnes of export cargo including 2,400 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Monday.
The total import cargo of 154,626 tonnes includes 12,476 tonnes of palm oil; 37,700 tonnes of diesel oil; 6,320 tonnes of soyabean seeds; 69,030 tonnes of coal; 8,900 tonnes of LNG; 1,200 tonnes of LPG and 19,000 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 26,600 tonnes includes 26,600 tonnes of containerised cargo.
As many as 2,400 containers comprising of 1,000 containers import and 1,400 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.
There were four ships namely CV Shang Dong Hai Da, CV Safmarine Ngami, MT King Craft and MT Al-Ghashamia carrying containers; LPG and LNG respectively sailed out to sea on Monday morning, while another ship namely MT Scirocco carrying diesel oil is expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of eleven vessels were occupied berths to load/offload containers, coal, soyabean seeds, palm kernel, LPG, LNG, diesel oil and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
As many as fifteen vessels viz. CV MSC Elasa-3, MV GNG Concord, MV Pedhoulas Trader, MV Globe Trotter, MV Li Etta, MV Pacific Activity, MV Baltic Light, MV Navig-8 Azurita, MV Gaschem Nordsee, MV Chembulk Westport, MT Anolipsi, MT NCC Noor, MT UACC Muharraar, MT Burn Shun and MT Chemroad Hope respectively carrying containers, soyabean, coal, chemical, diesel oil and palm oil were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were two vessels viz. CV MSC Elasa-3 and MV Chembulk Westport carrying containers and chemical respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal and Engro Vopak Terminal respectively on Monday. There are two ships namely CV ER Tokyo and CV Maersk Lima carrying containers due to arrive on Tuesday.
