Special Committee on Law Reforms Tuesday decided to write a letter to the Ministry of Law and Justice to seek a report on the work carried out with respect to law reforms in the country within seven days. The committee approved its terms of reference (ToR) and decided to hold its formal meeting in the first week of February. The committee was held under the chairmanship of Senator Farooq H Naek. The committee decided over the agenda items to be taken up in its next meeting including considering the tiers of court system of Pakistan and abolishing of the Special Courts and merging them with the ordinary courts.
The committee decided to write a letter to the Ministry of Law and Justice to seek report on the work carried out with regard to law reforms in the country within seven days and to ask the ministry to send a concerned officer to brief the committee to this effect in its next meeting. The committee would also write letters to other relevant departments and organisations in this regard including Pakistan Bar Council and provincial bar councils, Law and Justice Commission, National Commission for Women Rights, National Commission of Child Abuse and National Commission for Human Rights.
The meeting was attended by Senators Rana Maqbool Ahmed, Muhammad Azam Khan Swati, former Senator Ch Muhammad Anwer Bhinder, Raja Inam Amin Minhas and former Justice Muhammad Raza Khan.
