Prime Minister Imran Khan Thursday presided over a meeting of the federal cabinet and reviewed overall political and economical situation of the country. The meeting discussed a 17-point agenda including political and economic situation. The Prime Minister termed it the duty of the government to protect the lives and property of the people. He vowed to provide exemplary punishment to those responsible for the Sahiwal incident.
Regarding the decisions taken at the cabinet meeting, Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry said it has been decided to merge Earthquake Reconstruction and Rehabilitation Authority (ERRA) into National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA). He said Pakistan is being opened for the world for the first time, with mega changes in visa regime in the coming days.
The Minister said a sum of $ 58 million has been approved for Pakistan Mortgage Refinance Company. This will also ensure finance for Naya Pakistan Housing Scheme of the government. He said the cabinet approved the steps for constitution of New Media Regulatory Authority and also asked to hold consultation with journalist associations to listen to their views.
