KP Police team clinches first Peshawar League Hockey title

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police team clinched the trophy of the first Peshawar Hockey League played at Abdal Ismail Shaheed Hockey ground here. Member Provincial Assembly Malik Wajid was the chief guest on this occasion who witnessed the thrilling final played between Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police team and Civil Quarters hockey team.
The two teams exhibited classic display on grassy surface of the Abdal Ismail Shaheed Hockey ground situated inside the premises of Civil Quarters. The KP police Hockey team showed excellent form of attacking the rival defence and scored one after the other by defeating their rival Civil Quarters Club by 4-1. KP Police have continuing classic display of short-passes, fast moves and above all excellent scoring.
Sohail Iqbal was first opened the account for Civil Quarter team in the 9th minute and when KP Police team settle down they scored four goals, two in the first session through right winger Sajid, and center striker Muhammad Ali and two in the second session when Bostab and Junaid scored one goal each on the field attempt to make the tally 4-1.
Teams comprising Civil Quarters, Govt College Peshawar, PF College Peshawar, Mardan Hockey club, Chamkani Hockey club Peshawar, Qazi Hockey club and Batkhala team took part in the tournament. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police players exhibited outstanding performance throughout the tournament and won all group matches by defeating Qazi Hockey club and Govt College Peshawar and thus qualified for semi-finals.
After neck to neck fight between KP police and Chmankani Hockey club in the semi-final, the former defeated the latter by 2-1 goals. The final of the tournament was played between KP Police Hockey team and Civil Quarters. Member Provincial Assembly Malik Wajid was the chief guest on the occasion who gave away medals, trophies and cash prizes.
Addressing on the occasion, the chief guest highly appreciated the excellent performance of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police Hockey players throughout the tournament by saying that despite busy in the field in the war against terror, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police players also proved its mettle in the sport area by playing best hockey in the tournament.
The chief guest hoped that in future too the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police players will repeat the same performance and will bring more laurels both at national and international level competitions.
The chief guest gave away medals and trophies to the players who showed best performance in the tournament. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police sport in-charge Naeem Gul attributed the whole success of the tournament to the best guidance and supervision of the IGP Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Salahuddin Khan Mehsud and Director Police sport which enabled the players to outclass all teams in the competition.
