Punjab Agriculture Minister Malik Noman Ahmad Langrial has directed the officials of market committee to ensure elimination of encroachments from fruit and vegetable market, Badamibagh Lahore. He also stressed the need for earliest solution of issues being faced by the growers. The Minister issued these directives during his visit to the market on Wednesday. KPK Agriculture Minister Mohib Ullah Khan also accompanied him during the visit.
Director (E&M) Liaquat Ali Raza briefed the ministers about Badamibagh fruit and vegetable market. He said the provincial agriculture department took over the market during 1978 and its vegetable market is spreading over 11 acres of land while fruit market is spreading over 15 acres of land.
Total income of both the market is Rs81.7 million while expenses are Rs70 million. For security purposes, 12 CC TV cameras have been installed in the market while traffic is being regulated with the help of the city traffic police, Liaquat added.
Members of the market committee and a delegation of Arhtis also apprised the Minister about issues being faced by them. The Minister assured the delegation to resolve their problems on priority basis. He also directed for submission of cost for installing four gates around the market to improve the system and security. Both the ministers also inspected the cleanliness system on this occasion and urged the market committee to contact WASA officers concerned for improving the sewerage system.
