Activities at Karachi and Qasim ports

The Karachi Port handled 133,875 tonnes of cargo comprising 83,980 tonnes of import cargo and 50,895 tonnes of export cargo including 7,888 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Wednesday. The total import cargos of 83,980 tonnes comprised of 55,846 tonnes of containerised cargo; 3,273 tonnes of bulk cargo; 1,068 tonnes of soyabean seeds; 7,311 tonnes of rock phosphate and 15,482 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargos of 50,895 tonnes comprised of 48,098 tonnes of containerised cargo; 489 tonnes of bulk cargo and 2,308 tonnes of rice. As many as 7,888 containers comprising of 4,062 containers import and 3,826 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 1,125 of 20's and 1,418 of 40's loaded while 03 of 20's and 49 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 1,153 of 20's and 703 of 40's loaded containers while 277 of 20's and 495 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were five ships namely Conti Paris, Cardonia, Stolt Surf, SFL Kate and UACC Ibn Sina carrying containers, oil tanker, rock phosphate and mogas respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were four vessels viz. Kota Karim, Clemens Schulte, Jawad and Chang Hang Cang carrying containers, clinker and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.

The total import cargo of 219,318 tonnes includes 56,450 tonnes of LNG; 9,383 tonnes of palm oil; 1,200 tonnes of LPG; 7,270 tonnes of soyabean seeds; 63,442 tonnes of coal; 8,735 tonnes of chemical; 2,443 tonnes of palm kernel and 70,395 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 16,889 tonnes includes 2,050 tonnes of rice and 14,839 tonnes of containerised cargo.
As many as 4,486 containers comprising of 3,705 containers import and 781 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday. There were three ships namely MV Baltic Light, MV Ogino Park and MT Arowana carrying coal, chemical and palm kernel respectively sailed out to sea on Wednesday morning, while four more ships namely CV MOL Grandeur, CV Maersk Kensington, MT Al-Aamriya and MT Caspian Gas carrying containers, LNG and LPG respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of fourteen vessels were occupied berths to load/offload containers, rice, coal, soyabean seeds, chemical, palm kernel, LPG, LNG and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours. As many as fifteen vessels viz. CV MOL Grandeur, MV Reem-3, MV Gao Yu-2, MV Spar Rigel, MV Tramno Stanton, MV Fort Macau, MV Nord Copper, MV Lietta, MV Pacific Activity, MV AP Astarea, MT Tomson Gas, MT White Purl, MT Al-Soor-II, MT Gao Cheng-3 and MT Maritime Gisela respectively carrying containers, bitumen, steel product, coal, LPG, diesel oil and palm oil were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were three vessels viz. CV MOL Grandeur, MT White Purl and MT Al-Soor-II carrying containers, LPG and diesel oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Engro Elengy Terminal and SSGC LPG Terminal respectively on Wednesday There are two ships namely CV Torrente and CV Hansa America carrying containers due to arrive on Thursday.
