Prime Minister Imran Khan, who also holds the portfolio of interior minister, on Saturday halted transfer and posting of three top officers of Islamabad police. Sources said that on January 1, State Minister for Interior Shahryar Afridi and Inspector General of Police (IGP) Muhammad Aamir Zulfiqar Khan had approved the transfer and posting of three police officers, bypassing the Establishment Division and without taking the Prime Minister into confidence.
The Ministry of Interior on Friday through a notification transferred Deputy Inspector General (operation) Faisal Ali Raja, a grade-20 officer and posted him as DIG Safe City, while Waqar-ud-Din Syed, a grade-20 officer who was currently posted as Senior Superintendent of Police (Operation) was made DIG (operation). Similarly, Assistant Inspector General (Operation) Dr Sardar Ghias Gul, a grade-18 officer, was transferred and posted as SSP (operation).
