State Minister for Interior Shehryar Afridi said on Monday that more than 50 acres of precious land illegally occupied by land mafia in the federal capital has been retrieved. Talking to the media here at Bhara Kahu, Afridi said Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration has recovered 50 acres of land in an operation started following the directives of Prime Minister Imran Khan. The ICT administration is making arrangements and fulfilling legal formalities for retrieving more land occupied by grabbers, he said.
He said strict action will be taken against those who have illegally occupied state land as well as the people involved in cutting tree in forest areas. The present government will convert Islamabad into green city in order make it an example for other big cities, he said.
The minister said government wants to retrieve state land from encroachers and action against those officials accused of helping the encroachers will also be taken later. Afridi said operation against land mafia will continue till complete retrieval of encroached land.
