National Accountability Bureau (NAB), Karachi on Monday filed a corruption reference against former DC Malir District and others on the charges of embezzlement of 29 acres of government land situated at sector 31 & 32 of scheme 33 Karachi. According to details, the NAB, Karachi filed a corruption reference against former DC Malir District, land grabber Javed Iqbal and his accomplices on the charges of embezzlement of 29 acres of government land situated at sector 31 & 32 of scheme 33 Karachi.
The reference has been admitted under number 1 of 2019 by Accountability Court Karachi in which it was charged that 29 acres of government land was grabbed by the accused persons against the insertion of fake and fraudulent entries in revenue record which was masterminded by accused Javed Iqbal in connivance with revenue officials.
The accused Javed along with his accomplices Amir Ali and Irshad Khaskheli launched illegal housing project named Al Raheem Villas in the said land which was further fraudulently sold to general public. NAB said that the accused Qazi Jan Muhammad the then DC Malir District fraudulently issued certificates of fake village named Abdullah Shah Ghazi Goth Block F-II, for the same land thus facilitating land grabbing by his accomplices.
Such certificates were issued to general public to give legal cover to the illegal project raised on the said land. Abdullah Shah Ghazi Goth Block F-II and Al Raheem Raza City was already declared as illegal from SBCA thus intimating the general public and concerned government departments to exercise caution in investments by general public after due verification.
The accused Qazi Jan Muhammad, Iqbal Awan the then Mukhtiarkar, Ibrahim, Abdul Latif Brohi the then Mukhtiarkar and Iftikhar-ud-din in were arrested and currently under judicial remand whereas the accused Javed Iqbal has been arrested in a separate case, NAB said.
