The Senate Special Committee on Law Reforms Wednesday asked the adviser on legislative drafting to frame a working paper regarding tiers in the judicial system and the policy of special courts. The committee which met with Senator Farooq H Naek in the chair, asked Adviser on Legislative Drafting former Justice Mohammad Raza Khan to frame a working paper regarding tiers in the judicial system and the policy of special courts and merging them with the ordinary courts in coordination with Ministry of Law and Justice and Judicial Commission.
Raza Khan informed the committee that there are four tiers of the judicial system of Pakistan. Ministry of Defence senior official briefed the committee about the action taken in compliance with the judgement of Lahore High Court (LHC) with respect of the performance of the rent controllers' functions in cantonment areas by judicial officer.
Following the briefing, Naek said, "The matter is before the court and let us wait for intra court appeal." Ministry of Climate Change official briefed the committee about the action taken in compliance with the LHC judgement about the establishment of standing committee on climate change. The committee was informed that the standing committee has been established in compliance with the court order.
