The Pakistan Sugar Mills Association (PSMA) Punjab chapter has appealed Prime Minister Imran Khan and Chief Minister Punjab Usman Buzdar to take special interest for saving the sugar industry from exploitation at the hands of provincial machinery.
The Millers raised this demand during an emergent meeting on Wednesday which reviewed the issues being faced by the sector at present. They appealed to the government that the sugar sector could not bear the brunt of, what they said, exploitation by the administration.
They also claimed that the federal government had granted permission to export sugar at a time when the price of the commodity in the international market is not stable. "The export industry had asked the permission to export sugar very long time ago but the government delayed the decision on various excuses.
