From foldable phones to 5G connectivity and hole-in-display to in-display fingerprint sensors, many new innovations are set to take over the smartphone industry in coming time. However, Samsung has crowned foldable smartphones to be the next big thing for the industry.
Samsung’s Senior Vice President Hark-sang Kim recently published a blog post in which he talked about how upcoming technologies will uplift the smartphone industry, enabling smartphones to do more than ever and foldable phones representing a ‘new era’ for smartphones.
“But with mobile technologies like 5G, AI, and AR maturing rapidly, users will be able to do even more with their smartphones soon. Instead of losing relevance, the next wave of technological innovation will make the smartphone more central to our lives than ever before,” wrote Kim.

He further said how larger displays will play a great role for smartphone experiences. He said that keeping in mind the smartphone displays and portability at the same time, the firm unveiled the foldable Infinity Flex Display, however he also mentioned that ‘building a foldable display was no mean feat’ and took seven years to accomplish it.
Keeping in view the upcoming trend of foldable smartphones, Kim mentioned that ‘smartphone innovation is at the cusp of the next major transformation’. Describing the challenges they had to face during making the foldable display, Kim mentioned that they are committed to push the limits of possibility and ‘lead the mobile industry into a new era’.
“The arrival of the Infinity Flex Display is just the beginning. We will continue pushing the limits of possibility and shape the future as it unfolds. We expect to see a sea change in the smartphone form factor in the coming years. Samsung is ready to usher in this future and create meaningful experiences for consumers that help them do more of what they love,” ensured Kim.
