The Met Office has recorded 15 percent above the normal rainfall in the country, excluding Balochistan, this winter. The rainfall that was recorded between Jan 1, 2019 and Feb 15, 2019 remained about 15 percent more than the normal in the country, excluding Balochistan.
However, over the past two weeks, the country received nearly normal rainfall of 7 percent. Rain, above normal, fell in Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan while lower than usual in Sindh and Balochistan over the period.
"In January 2019, rainfall was above normal over country as well as over AJK, GB, KPK, Punjab and Sindh and below normal over Balochistan," it said.In the next 24 hours: Mainly cold and dry weather is expected in most parts of the country with rain and snowfall over the hills in Quetta, Kalat, Makran, Malakand, Hazara, Rawalpindi and Gujranwala Divisions, Islamabad, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan. "Continental air is prevailing over most parts of the country. A westerly wave is likely to enter western parts of the country on Sunday evening/ night, it said.
Over the past 24 hours: Weather remained cold and dry in the most parts of the country. Minimum temperature was recorded in Kalam: minus-10 degree Celsius, Skardu: minus-9, Bagrote: minus-7, Astore: minus-6, Malamjabba minus-5, Kalat minus-4, Hunza, Gupis, Dir and Drosh: minus-3 and Quetta, Chitral, Rawalakot and Mirkhani: minus-2.
