Ukraine's grain exports have risen to 31.3 million tonnes so far in the 2018/19 season from 25.8 million tonnes at the same point last season, the agriculture ministry said on Wednesday. Ukraine has said it harvested a record 70 million tonnes of grain last year, up from 61.3 million in 2017.
The ministry said exports could rise to at least 47 million tonnes in the July 2018 to June 2019 season from 39.4 million the season before. The ministry said Ukraine had exported almost 15.1 million tonnes of corn as of Feb. 20, up from 9 million tonnes in the same period last season. Wheat shipments fell to 12.3 million tonnes from around 13.4 million.
The government and traders last year agreed that no more than 16 million tonnes of wheat, including 8 million tonnes of milling wheat, could be exported from Ukraine this season. Grains, vegetable oils and oilseeds dominate Ukrainian agricultural exports.
