Speaker National Assembly Asad Qaiser on Saturday said the parliamentary affairs would be run under the constitution as he was the custodian of the whole House not of any specific political party. Talking to a private news channel, he said making legislation was the basic responsibility of the parliament.
He said making improvement in the current parliamentary system was his priority. He urged all the political parties to work for the country and to avoid doing politics over sensitive issues. Everyone has right to raise his voice in the parliament but it should be in the constitutional parameters, he added.
He said every political party should play its due role for the development of the country. The speaker said there was no threat to the democracy and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf government support the accountability of corrupt people without discrimination.
Replying to a question, he said National Accountability Bureau (NAB) was an independent institution and it was performing its duties and responsibilities without any pressure. He said after five years, the PTI would be answerable to the masses regarding its performance. He said the political parties should also bring the democracy within the parties and hold intra-party elections. To another query, he said production orders would be issued as per requirement.
