Indian party plans to give Kareena Kapoor party ticket to contest general election

Local leaders of Indian political party Congress in Bhopal have demanded Bollywood actress Kareena Kapoor Khan to be given party's ticket to contest upcoming general elections from the same region.

It is said that since Kareena's husband Saif Ali Khan hails from Bhopal and the actress often visits the city, they want her to contest the elections from there to secure more chances in Indian general elections 2019.

Congress leaders Guddu Chauhan and Anees Khan have come up with the plan, which they say will be instrumental in unseating BJP from power in the city that has become its stronghold. Bhopal has chosen to elect a BJP MP for decades. Chauhan and Anees argued that since Kareena has a great fan-following among the youngsters, they will vote for her, India Today reported.

Some media report suggests that Chauhan is seeking an appointment with Madhya Pradesh’s Chief Minister Kamal Nath to convince him to give Kareena party ticket to stand in the elections.

The Pataudi family has had strong ties with the city. Kareena, Saif, Sharmila Tagore and Soha Ali Khan have visited Bhopal many times.

In 1991, Kareena's father-in-law Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi contested general elections as Congress candidate from Bhopal. However, he lost.
