To facilitate ailing former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar has directed the Punjab government to allocate a mobile cardiac unit for 24 hours at the Kot Lakhpat Jail. Spokesperson for CM Punjab Dr Shahbaz Gill disclosed this while talking to journalists here on Saturday. PIC MS Dr Muhammad Amir was also present on the occasion. The decision was taken on the request of Maryam Nawaz on Twitter, he added.
He said that doctors and technicians of the Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC) would remain present in that mobile unit in three shifts. "All life-saving facilities, which are needed in case of any emergency, are available in this mobile unit," he added.
"The PML-N is doing politics on the health of Nawaz Sharif, which is regrettable. The PTI believes in justice and equal treatment with every citizen. The Punjab government is providing all possible facilities to Nawaz Sharif as per jail rules," he said.
According to him, he conveyed the message of the Prime Minister and the Chief Minister in his meeting with Nawaz Sharif. The Punjab government is ready to provide medical facilities from any private or public hospital of his choice and the Punjab government has written a letter in this regard in which all these options were given.
In reply to a question, he said the former Prime Minister was waiting for his bail and the Punjab government had no authority on that matter. "The Prime Minister has given clear instructions to the Punjab government to provide all medical facilities, as per rules, to Nawaz Sharif," he added.
