The Punjab Assembly on Tuesday unanimously passed a resolution to award medals to Squadron Leader Hassan Siddiqui and Wing Commander Nauman Ali Khan for shooting down two Indian warplanes for intruding into Pakistan's airspace.
The resolution was presented by PML-N MPA Azma Zahid Bukhari. PML (N) MPA Khalil Tahir Sindhu demanded that minority students should be given additional marks after getting religious education like the Muslim students.
The House passed resolution in public interests which included demand from the federal government giving incentives to agriculture and industrial sector for the economic development of the country. The House also passed a resolution that the government should take practical steps for providing career counseling services to students of the province. The House passed a resolution for making Kalam-e-Iqbal as a necessary part of syllabus.
The House passed another resolution demanding release of funds for promoting hockey which is our national game. The government should make arrangements for the live telecast of national and international hockey matchers for creating the interest of people in the game.
The House also passed a unanimous resolution paying rich tributes to former provincial minister Arshad Khan Lodhi. The resolution was presented by PML (N) MPA Arshad Khan Lodhi.
The treasury benches failed to come out from the mode of opposition. During the session, they chanted slogans against the opposition and the situation got tensed when PTI MPA Momina Waheed demanded an apology from PML (N) MPA Warris Kallu over the statement he passed during the last session.
The Higher Education Department submitted a written answer in the House regarding corruption in laptop scheme and admitted that 4,14848 lap tops were distributed on merit during Shahbaz Sharif's government during 2012-17.
