The Karachi Port handled 134,893 tonnes of cargo comprising 82,249 tonnes of import cargo and 52,644 tonnes of export cargo including 5,972 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Tuesday. The total import cargos of 82,249 tonnes comprised of 42,727 tonnes of containerised cargo and 39,522 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargos of 52,644 tonnes comprised of 17,144 tonnes of containerised cargo; 480 tonnes of bulk cargo; 25,000 tonnes of clinker; 5,920 tonnes of loose bulk cement and 4,100 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 5,972 containers comprising of 3,029 containers import and 2,943 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 921 of 20's and 990 of 40's loaded while 04 of 20's and 62 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 555 of 20's and 149 of 40's loaded containers while 558 of 20's and 766 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were three ships namely MS Tiger, Hyundai Colombo and Gulf Horizon carrying containers and mogas respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were three vessels viz. Cosco Antwerp, Irenes Reliance and Mohar carrying containers and cement respectively currently at the berths.
A cargo volume of 209,012 tonnes comprising 175,906 tonnes of import cargo and 33,106 tonnes of export cargo including 3,548 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Tuesday. The total import cargo of 175,906 tonnes includes 6,136 tonnes of diesel oil; 8,300 tonnes of palm oil; 45,411 tonnes of coal; 4,290 tonnes of chemical; 41,300 tonnes of LNG; 18,697 tonnes of steel coil; 14,931 tonnes of mogas and 36,841 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 33,106 tonnes includes; 2,535 tonnes of rice and 30,571 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 3,548 containers comprising of 1,939 containers import and 1,609 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.
There were two ships namely CV MSC Ines and MV Navig-8 Azurite carrying containers and chemical respectively sailed out to sea on Tuesday morning, while five more ships amely CV MSC Esthi, MV Star Aquaius, MT La Mancha K Nutsen, MT New Challenge and MT Ginga Hawk carrying containers, coal, LNG, mogas and palm oil respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of eleven vessels were occupied berths to load/offload containers, steel coil, rice, coal, chemical, LNG, mogas and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
As many as twentyone vessels viz. CV ER Tokyo, MV Athos, MV Orange Harmony, MV Hong Yuang, MV SSI Triuph, MV Equinox Agnadoussa, MV Indigo Flora, MV Nord Traveler, MV Heroic Striker, MV Caints Caustway, MV Diomidis, MV Big Apple, MV London, MT White Purl, MT Dong Jaing, MT Pike, MT Challange Phonix, MT Sovereign, MT NCC Sofa, MT Cedvet-A and MT Clarice respectively carrying containers, steel ciol, soyabean, coal, chemical, LPG, mogas, diesel oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were four vessels viz. CV Maersk Hartfoed, CV ER Esthi, MV London and MT NCC Sofa carrying containers, chemical and palm oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively on Tuesday. There is one ship namely CV MOL Globe carrying containers due to arrive on Wednesday.
