ANP general secretary Mian Iftikhar Hussain has said Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project has unveiled the real face of the PTI government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as it is not only corrupt rather a deadly incompetent.
In a statement issued here on Saturday, the veteran politician said the BRT design had been changed 18th times that shows that work on the project was initiated without feasibility study. The matter he said is another heinous crime.
He said those who were making jokes over the metro projects of others have become victim of the BRT project. He said instead of seeking apology from the people over the project the provincial ministers are busy in playing cricket on the underpasses of BRT while on the other hand confusion was being spread regarding the project.
The ANP stalwart said BRT project has turned provincial metropolis into the hub of problems where rains turned it into ruins while on the other hand residents are also facing telephone, electricity, gas and sewerage related issues.
He said now responsibility rest with the government to tell the people regarding their preparations before launching the mega project. He lamented that despite merciless spending of the public exchequer, the top anti-graft agency NAB has kept mum over the project that was summoning opposition on basis of just suspicion.
Mian Iftikhar said the project started with the estimated cost of Rs 37 billion has reached to Rs 120 billion, but not only the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) but the champion of transparency and good governance Imran Khan is also silent spectator to it. He also made jib over the refusal of the Chief Minister Mahmood Khan from the inauguration of the project and its opening by the spokesman of the provincial government. The situation, he said is creating confusion among the people that on one hand the chief executive of the province is against the inauguration.
