Lahore, Faisalabad: work on low-cost houses to begin in April: minister

The Punjab Minister for Housing and Urban Development Mian Mahmood ur Rasheed has said that construction of low-cost housing units will start by next month in Lahore and Faisalabad. Under the Naya Pakistan Housing Scheme, Punjab Housing and Town Planning Agency (PHATA) will also complete the process of acquiring land in other cities of the province on priority basis.
He stated this while presiding over a meeting of PHATA Board, here on Tuesday. Director General PHATA Liaqat Ali Chatha and other board members attended the meeting.
Mahmood ur Rasheed said that Naya Pakistan Housing Scheme will also be started in Sialkot and Chiniot from the next month. In order to ensure the participation of private sector in this scheme, relevant by-laws are being amended, the minister added. He directed PHATA to expedite the process of acquiring land from Liquidation Board for the housing project.
