The Karachi Port handled 165,734 tonnes of cargo comprising 132,153 tonnes of import cargo and 33,581 tonnes of export cargo including 11,148 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Friday. The total import cargos of 132,153 tonnes comprised of 84,601 tonnes of containerised cargo; 11,557 tonnes of bulk cargo 705 tonnes of canola; 7,573 tonnes of DAP and 27,717 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargos of 33,581 tonnes comprised of 26,686 tonnes of containerised cargo; 995 tonnes of bulk cargo and 5,900 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
As many as 11,148 containers comprising of 5,714 containers import and 5,434 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday. The breakup of imported containers shows 2,092 of 20's and 1,780 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and 31 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 1,040 of 20's and 820 of 40's loaded containers while 268 of 20's and 1,243 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were seven ships namely Cosco Japan, CMA CGM Mumbai, Tina-1, MT Quetta, Junior, V Fulmar and Morning Cindy carrying containers, oil tanker, canola, DAP and vehicle respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were five vessels viz. Cosco Hong Kong, CMA CGM Norma, MT Lahore, Grand Phoenix and Morning Cindy carrying containers, oil tanker and vehicle respectively currently at the berths.
