31 Mar, 2019

A division bench of Sindh High has sought the comments from federal government, Sindh government and chairman National Highway Authority (NHA) regarding non-completion of Rs 3.5 billion Gharo-Keti Bandar road project. SHC directed federal and provincial governments and chairman NAB to furnish their replies by April 11, 2019. The locals of the area filed petition against non-completion of the project in which NHA, Works and Services Department Sindh and others have been made respondents. They stated they are law-abiding citizen and residents of said area.
Their petition stated that the area people want civic facilities, including provision of roads to have access from one place to other in connection with their work, schools, hospitals etc, but they are facing problems in seeking facilities.
It said that around eight years back, NHA started work on construction of road from Gharo to Keti Bandar. It said the 84-kilometre project was divided into three packages: The 24kilometre Gharo-Sakro road was included in Package-1;
Package-II included: 30kilometre Mirpur Sakro- Garhho road and Package-III: 30km Garhho-Keti Bandar road. However, the road work was left uncompleted for the reasons known only to the authorities concerned. The petitioners prayed the court to issue orders to the concerned department for completion of the project.
