Carrying around 650 commuters, Pakistan Railways' (PR) new passenger train - Jinnah Express left Karachi towards its destination Lahore, on Sunday afternoon. The upper-middle class passenger train was inaugurated by Divisional Superintendent (DS) Railways Karachi Division Syed Mazhar Ali Shah here at the cantonment station. SP Railways Shehla Qureshi, Divisional Commercial Officer (DCO) Ishaq Baloch were also president at the ceremony.
Seemi-a commuter who avail the very first ticket of the Jinnah Express was also invited by Railways at the inaugural ceremony. Prime Minister Imran Khan had inaugurated the Lahore-Karachi Jinnah Express on Saturday.
DS Railways on this occasion said that the non-stop train will run between Karachi and Lahore on a daily basis. Sharing details, Mazhar said the train attached with 12 coaches will leave Karachi daily at 3pm and reach Lahore the next day at 7:30am. The train will make four stops at the Hyderabad, Rohri, Khanewal and Lahore Cantt junctions before reaching the main Lahore junction.
The move would help PR to earn handsome revenue besides providing better travel facilities for the commuters. PR wants to provide comfortable service for all class people. It's up to them, what service they want to avail, he said. He said the new train is a good alternative for the families who can't afford air traveling.
