The Commander of the Royal Air Force of Oman is visiting Pakistan on a four-day official visit. Ali Javed, the Ambassador of Pakistan to Oman on Sunday saw off Air Vice Marshal Mater bin Ali Al-Obaidani, the Commander Royal Air Force of Oman (CRAFO), and his accompanying delegation, at the Seeb Airbase.
The Omani air chief, heading to Pakistan for a four-day bilateral visit, expressed keenness to executing the substantive visit schedule and said visit is a valuable opportunity to boost cooperation between the air forces of the two countries as well as augment bilateral relations.
In addition to reviewing a guard of honour and holding bilateral talks with his counterpart, the Oman Air Force chief will hold separate meetings with the complete spectrum of Pakistan armed forces leadership including Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Hayat, Chief of Army Staff General Bajwa and Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Abbasi, to forge bilateral defense cooperation.
The visit comes within the scope of existing defense cooperation and at the invitation extended from Air Chief Marshal Mujahid Anwar Khan, the chief of air staff of Pakistan Air Force, during his bilateral visit to Oman during September 2018.
The period March 2018 to March 2019 marks a watershed in bilateral parliamentary, political and defence relations witnessing an unprecedented growth and exchanges beginning with bilateral visits of Chief of Army Staff General Bajwa and Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Abbasi in March and July 2018, whereas Air Chief Marshal Khan and Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Hayat visited the Sultanate in September 2018 and February 2019, respectively.
Other substantive visits during the same period included Chairman Senate of Pakistan Sadiq Sanjrani, coinciding with Sultanate's National Day in November 2018 and Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, who co-chaired the 7th Joint Commission in January this year.
The "Pak-Oman Friendship Group" in the Senate of Pakistan consisting of senators Mir Kabeer and Ashok Kaum undertook the inaugural visit during March 17 to 21, 2019 followed by a visit of Minister for Religious Affairs Dr Noorul Haq Qadri on March 24 and 25, whose visit coincided with 'Pakistan Day' celebrations in Oman.
