Import stage: July-March provisional collection stands at Rs 1.28 trillion

The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has provisionally collected Rs 1,285.27 billion taxes at the import stage during July-March (2018-19) against Rs 1,217.79 billion during the same period of 2017-18, reflecting an increase of Rs 67.48 billion.
According to the FBR data, the FBR has provisionally collected domestic taxes (income tax, sales tax and federal excise duty) Rs 1,405.675 billion during July-March (2018-19) as compared to Rs 1,406.226 billion collected during the same period last fiscal year, showing a negative growth.
The customs duty collection stood at Rs 510.11 billion in July-March (2018-19) against Rs 482 billion during corresponding period last fiscal year, showing a handsome increase of over Rs 28 billion.
The sales tax collection at import stage stood at Rs 603.117 billion against Rs 620.563 billion, showing a declining trend.
The withholding tax collection on imports stood at Rs167.61 billion during the period under review against Rs 158.17 billion in same period of 2017-18.
The domestic income tax collection amounted to Rs 816.237 billion during the period under review against Rs 829.710 billion, showing a decrease of 1.62 percent.
The sales tax collection at domestic stage and supplies stood at Rs 436.438 billion against Rs 440.182 billion, showing a decrease of Rs 3.744 billion.
The collection of Federal Excise Duty (FED) amounted to Rs 153 billion as compared to Rs 136.334 billion, showing an increase of Rs 16.666 billion.
