Vice Chancellor of University of Karachi, Professor Dr Muhammad Ajmal Khan has welcomed Sindh Chief Minister's disapproving the summary that failed to allocate grants to major universities of the province. He hoped that all the universities across the province would be provided funds as per their requirements.
The KU vice chancellor expressed dissatisfaction over lack of grants for four major universities in a recent summary referred to the Chief Minister House. He hailed the decision of Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah for taking immediate notice of this unjust summary and withholding it. He called for funds allocation as per the needs of the universities for development of alma maters in the province.
Issuance of grant for public universities is directly linked with the enrolment of students around the world. Therefore, major public sector universities are extremely thankful to the Chief Minister Murad Shah for advocating major universities' position and supporting earmarking funds in line with 'base allocation.'
KU VC said distribution of funds would promote research culture at universities. He said vacuum in Pakistan's education system could only be filled by encouraging major universities. "We will only be acknowledged by the world if we promote research culture," he asserted.
