MQM-P seeks federal government's intervention in Sindh

Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) on Saturday sought federal government's intervention in Sindh under article 149 of the constitution due to bad governance, corruption, murder of merit and injustices with the urban centers of the province. Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, Convener MQM-P and Federal Minister for Information Technology addressing a press conference along with the members of Coordination Committee of the party said that Sindh has been divided due to "biased government" in the province for discriminating on linguistic basis.
"We demand Prime Minister Imran Khan to take "direct action in the light of article 149 of the constitution." Siddiqui said and explained this article allowed him to interference in the provincial matters for the sake of arresting the deteriorating situation in a federating unit.
He accused Sindh Government of continuously ignoring urban centers of the province and pointed out that Urdu Speaking officials are not only being ignored on the provincial bureaucracy but the officials from interior Sindh are being inducted on the posts illegally. He said that Chief Secretary Sindh office is held by a Sindhi whereas 41 secretaries of provincial departments out of 45 have been occupied by the officials from interior Sindh whereas only four secretaries belong to urban centers of the province.
Likewise, urban Sindh has no representation in the commissioners' offices of six divisions whereas all the commissioners are from interior parts of the province. Out of 29 deputy commissioners, one is from urban Sindh and rest belongs from interior Sindh. In police Department, four Additional IGs belong from interior Sindh out of five with one from Urban Sindh.
Out of twenty seven DIGs, twenty belong from rural Sindh, four from other provinces and three are from urban centers, Siddiqui said. Convener MQM-P believed that ignoring Urban Sindh in the government jobs and provincial bureaucracy is fuelling the sense of deprivation among the people of urban centers. He blamed PPP provincial government of usurping the rights of urban Sindh and alleged that people from interior Sindh are being appointed on fake domiciles on the vacancies, reserved for people of Urban Sindh.
Khalid appealed to President, Prime Minister and Chief Justice f Pakistan to take notice of this situation and opined that nation was deceived through 18th amendment as the powers have been concentrated in the provinces, which they didn't devolve to districts.
He said that MQM-P is taking the case of Urban Sindh in the court of people and would hold a public meeting on April 27, 2019 at the ground adjacent to Mazar-e-Quaid and would announce its future line of action in it regarding the injustices being done against the people of Urban Sindh. Siddiqui said that MQM-P condemned in strongest terms the usage of MQM flag while holding a demonstration against the country in USA and declared that MQM-P totally disown such people as it is associated with Pakistan by believing in its constitution and sovereignty.
Deputy Convener Nasreen Jalil demanded Prime Minister to consider people of Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkur and Nawab Shah in one million jobs, which would reportedly be generated in the coming days.
