Activities at Karachi and Qasim Ports

The Karachi Port handled 225,763 tonnes of cargo comprising 129,111 tonnes of import cargo and 96,652 tonnes of export cargo including 4,500 loaded and empty containers during the last 48 hours ending at 0700 hours on Monday. The total import cargos of 129,111 tonnes comprised of 53,224 tonnes of containerised cargo; 11,466 tonnes of DAP and 64,421 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargos of 96,652 tonnes comprised of 27,758 tonnes of containerised cargo; 1,000 tonnes of bulk cargo; 5,124 tonnes of barite lumps; 5,124 tonnes of talcum powder; 32,800 tonnes of clinkers and 24,400 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 4,500 containers comprising of 2,471 containers import and 2,029 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 1,043 of 20's and 592 40's loaded while nil of 20's and 122 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 451 of 20's and 202 of 40's loaded containers while 166 of 20's and 504 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours. There were nine ships namely Ever Decent, Xin Mei Zhou, Northern Discovery, Chembulk Jakarta, MT Lahore, Panagia Lady, Olivia, Beijing Venture and Gladiator carrying containers, oil tankers, talcum powder and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were five vessels viz. MS Tiger, Hyundai Mercury, Ever Decent, Xena and Apanemo carrying containers and oil tankers respectively currently at the berths.

The total export cargo of 49,571 tonnes includes 49,571 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 2,666 containers comprising of 57 containers import and 2,609 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.
There were two ships namely CMA CGM Medea and Maersk Jalan carrying containers respectively sailed out to sea on Monday morning, while three more ships namely SC Qingdao, Seri Alam and Able Sailor carrying chemical, LNG and palm oil respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of ten vessels were occupied berths to load/offload containers, coal, soyabean seeds, steel coil, palm kernel, LNG and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours. As many as ten vessels viz. Conti Cortesia, Thor Madoc, Indigo Flora, Alani, Argent Sunrise, Pike, Dory, Melati-6, NCC Haiel and NCC Sama respectively carrying containers, coal, phosphoric acid, palm kernel, diesel oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were four vessels viz. Conti Cortesia, Secon-8, Argent Sunrise and NCC Sama carrying containers, steel coil, phosphoric acid and palm oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Monday. There are four ships namely MSC Elsa-III, APL Savannah, Maersk Kensington and Secon-8 carrying containers and steel coil respectively due to arrive on Tuesday.
