The Karachi Port handled 111,858 tonnes of cargo comprising 81,554 tonnes of import cargo and 30,304 tonnes of export cargo including 5,578 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Tuesday.
The total import cargos of 81,554 tonnes comprised of 42,537 tonnes of containerised cargo; 5,167 tonnes of DAP and 33,850 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargos of 30,304 tonnes comprised of 29,601 tonnes of containerised cargo and 703 tonnes of bulk cargo.
As many as 5,578 containers comprising of 3,497 containers import and 2,081 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 820 of 20's and 1,061 40's loaded while 97 of 20's and 229 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 800 of 20's and 267 of 40's loaded containers while 151 of 20's and 298 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were four ships namely MS Tiger, OOCL Chicago, Kota Karim and Apanemo carrying containers and mogas respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were six vessels viz. Kota Karim, OOCL Chicago, APL England, Irenes Reliance, Mayssan and Global Effort carrying containers and wheat respectively currently at the berths.
