The district administration Lahore along with other allied agencies remained on high alert after torrential rain in the provincial capital on Wednesday. Deputy Commissioner Lahore Saleha Saeed activated all departments to make pre and post-rain arrangements after receiving a tip from the met office.
The DC had directed the Assistant Commissioners and field staff of LWMC, WASA and Zones to be vigilant and focus on the low-lying areas of their jurisdiction and ensure that rain water is drained out within the shortest possible time. She also alerted the assistant commissioners to monitor the presence and working of the field staff.
Saeed personally visited Lawrence Road, Lakshmi Chowk and other sore points of the provincial capital to review the progress of clearing rain water. Similarly, on the direction of the DC, the assistant commissioners Model Town, Raiwind and City visited the low-lying areas and monitored the work.
DC Saleha Saeed told newsmen that the administration is vigilant in days to come and it is in touch with the met office to get weather updates. Meanwhile, the administration approved Rs10 million for purchase of medical, surgical and electrical equipments for seven tehsil headquarters hospitals in the provincial capital.
