Ukrainian grain exports from sea ports in the week of April 13-19 fell to 598,000 tonnes from 1.16 million tonnes a week earlier, the APK-Inform consultancy said on Sunday. Corn exports fell 51 percent to 392,000 tonnes, while wheat shipments declined 38 percent to 207,000 tonnes, the consultancy said. Ukraine sent its grains mostly to China, Indonesia and Iran.
The country has exported 35.8 million tonnes of wheat, corn and barley so far this season, which runs from July to June, APK-Inform said. That is up from 29.2 million tonnes in the same period in 2017/18. However, the agriculture ministry said on Friday grain exports had reached 40.6 million tonnes so far in the 2018/19 season. Ukraine had exported almost 22.4 million tonnes of corn and 14 million tonnes of wheat by April 19, the ministry said.
The country harvested a record 70 million tonnes of grain this year and expects to export about 49 million tonnes in the 2018/19 July-June season.
