"The ruling elite is least concerned about the plight of workers, only attending photo sessions of the May 01, and our parliamentarians are doing nothing for the rights of labours," said Pasban Democratic Party (PDP) Chairman, Altaf Shakoor.
Talking to the leaders of PDP Labour Wing here at Pasban Public Secretariat Gulshan-e-Iqbal on the occasion of the Labour Day, he said a lot of rallies and conferences are held on the Labour Day, but nothing practical is done for the welfare of labours and their families.
He said till the real representatives of common man, labours, Harees and youths reach the corridors of power; the realization of their rights would remain a distant dream.
Altaf Shakoor said when the real representatives of these downtrodden people reach parliament, only then a proper legislation for the rights of labours would be possible. He said the prevailing system or much talked about presidential system would not serve the interests of labours and common man.
He further said that today Pakistani workers face more problems than the workers of Chicago a century back. The workers of Chicago gave great sacrifices for labour rights, but their struggle was finally defeated by capitalism.
He said in Pakistan the families of workers even do not get two square meals daily. Their problems and woes are growing with every passing day. The PTI government is bent to starve workers and their children due to its wrong economic policies that have already pulled down the growth rate to less than 2.8 percent from 7 percent.
