KW&SB links smooth water supply with nonstop power supply

Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KW&SB) will not be able to ensure equable distribution of water to all parts of Karachi in the holy month of Ramazan should K-Electric fails to ensure uninterrupted power supply to its water distribution stations. Also, the KW&SB has asked the power company to exempt all of its water pumping stations from load shedding.
KW&SB Managing Director (MD) Asadullah Khan in a statement has asked the power utility to supply power continuously to the board's 154 water pumping stations and five main distribution units. "Uninterrupted power supply to KWSB is crucial," he said. Khan also underscored the need of coordinated efforts of KE and KW&SB officials to resolve the bilateral issues and facilitate consumers particularly during the sizzling summer.
He said that the board's pumping stations were badly affected due to frequent power suspension and it resulted in suspension of water supply to parts of the city. Moreover, KW&SB's Chief Engineer (Electrical and Mechanical) Intekhab Ahmad Rajput and Executive Engineer (E&M water pumping stations) Syed Mazhar Hussain held a meeting with KE officials. They requested the KE for uninterrupted power supply to the board's installations.
