Punjab Governor Chaudhary Muhammad Sarwar on Saturday hosted an iftar dinner in the honour of more than 5000 labourers, workers and employees of Pakistan Railways. Federal Railway Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmad with many others participated in the iftar dinner. CEO Railway Muhammad Aftaab Akbar, DS Railway Lahore Amir Nisar Chaudhry, Chaudhry Khalid Sandhu, representatives of different organisations and more than 2000 people, including railway labourers and employees, gathered for the dinner.
On the occasion, Punjab Governor Sarwar said that all these iftar dinners are being arranged at my personal expense. "Not even a single penny from public exchequer is being spent on them. The doors of Governor House are open for all," he added.
According to him, those who are talking about launching protest against the government have already broken all the records of corruption and bad governance in their previous governments.
The politics of Prime Minister Imran Khan is based on integrity and honesty because of which everyone, whether he is rich or poor, is standing beside him in his mission to eradicate poverty, bring good governance and spend on human development.
He further said that the previous governments primarily focused on cosmetic development to distract people from their actual problems and also plundered the wealth of this nation with both hands, which left this country far behind in progress and prosperity. "I invite all of you to probe the pages of history, you would not find anyone equivalent to Imran Khan in honesty and integrity," he added.
He emphasised that the nation should not worry of the economic crises; "bad times often bring out the best part of us". "Therefore, people should not lose hope in Imran Khan, he will not disappoint you. Time is required to bring structural changes in the system for the benefit of the common people," he added.
Meanwhile, the governor met with former provincial minister Abdul Aleem Khan and congratulated him on his release on bail. On the occasion, they discussed political matters in detail. The Punjab Governor accompanied by Federal Railway Minister Sheikh Rasheed Ahmad also attended the funeral of PPP leader Qamar Uz Zaman Qaira's son who had died yesterday in a road accident.
