After granting bail by Peshawar High Court in a case of alleged misuse of authority in making appointments at different archaeological sites and missing antiques from Peshawar Museum, Dr Abdul Samad is likely to be reinstated as Director Archaeology and Museums Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. In this regard, a summary was moved to Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mahmood Khan to immediately restore Dr Abdul Samad as Director Archaeology and Museums, Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, said an official source to this scribe here on Tuesday.
Last week, a division bench issued the release order, directing Dr Abdul Samad to secure his release by submitting two surety bonds worth Rs5 million each. During the hearing, the counsel for the accused petitioner submitted that the NAB Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had closed its first inquiry against the petitioner after it could not prove allegations of misuse of authority by him.

According to summary undersigned by Senior Minister for Sports, Youth Affairs, Tourism, Culture Archaeology and Museums Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Secretary concerned stated that consequent upon release on bail by Peshawar High Court, Peshawar vide judgment dated 15th May 2019 in writ petition No1911-P 0f 2019. Dr Samad Director (B-18) Archaeology and Museums KP submitted his joining report for duly 16th May, 2019.
