Sindh High Court (SHC) on Tuesday sought the reply from Dr. Arif Alvi in a petition, challenging him for holding office of President of Pakistan by June 12, 2019. A division bench of SHC headed by Justice Muhammad Ali Azhar issued these orders in a petition, filed by Azmat Rehan, who alleged that Dr. Alvi tampered judicial record of civil suit in 1977. He told the court Dr. Arif Alvi filed his affidavit for three times in a case pending hearing with court since 1977 and made wrong statements in these affidavits for all the times.
The petition also alleged that President Alvi also submitted fake documents in court, due to which he acquired ownership of 1,810 acres of land near Hawks Bay beach. The petitioner said that the sitting Chief Justice SHC had also issued an order against Alvi earlier.
Court showed displeasure for not submitting the reply by President and remarked that every time ten to fifteen days time is sought for the reply. The petition was filed early this year, however reply has not been filed so far as sought by the court. Petitioner made Federal government, Election Commission of Pakistan and others as respondents in his petition.
