The Karachi Port handled 186,768 tonnes of cargo comprising 115,889 tonnes of import cargo and 70,789 tonnes of export cargo including 1,630 loaded and empty containers during the last 48 hours ending at 0700 hours on Monday.
The total import cargos of 115,889 tonnes comprised of 25,866 tonnes of containerised cargo; 2,223 tonnes of bulk cargo; 5,840 tonnes of canola and 81,960 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargos of 70,789 tonnes comprised of 46,024 tonnes of containerised cargo; 800 tonnes of bulk cargo; 20,755 tonnes of clinkers and 3,300 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
As many as 1,630 containers comprising of 355 containers import and 1,275 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 125 of 20's and 35 of 40's loaded while 58 of 20's and 51 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 309 of 20's and 80 of 40's loaded containers while 42 of 20's and 382 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were six ships namely Xin Mei Zhou, Northern Dexterity, Breezy Victoria, CT Confidence, Analipsi Lady and Port Hainan carrying containers, oil tanker, chemical, mogas and clinkers respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were five vessels viz. Ever Decent, CT Confidence, MT Quetta, Apanemo and PVT Aroma carrying containers, oil tankers and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.
The total import cargo of 155,398 tonnes includes 33,621 tonnes of furnace oil; 11,500 tonnes of palm oil; 70,836 tonnes of coal; 9,795 tonnes of soyabean; 13,000 tonnes of phosphoric acid; 5,284 tonnes of palm kernel and 11,362 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 47,196 tonnes includes 47,196 tonnes of containerised cargo.
As many as 3,082 containers comprising of 598 containers import and 2,484 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.
There were three ships namely Maersk Jalan, CMA CGM Butterfly and MS Tiger carrying containers sailed out to sea on Monday morning, while two more ships namely SSI Victory and Acadia Park carrying coal and chemical respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of eleven vessels were occupied berths to load/offload containers, coal, soyabean, phosphoric acid, palm kernel, furnace oil and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
As many as twelve vessels viz. MSC Lusia, Seamax Greenwich, Hai Ji, La Venture, Basch Hoek, Ocean Bao, Aeriko, GH Northern Dancer, SG Geoji, LNG Solar, Analipsi Lady and NCC Shams respectively carrying containers, canola seeds, coal, chemical, LNG, diesel oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were five vessels viz. MSC Lusia, Seamax Greenwich, Ocean Bao. SC Gouji and LNG Solar carrying containers, coal, chemical and LNG respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Pakistan International Bulk Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal and Engro Elengy Terminal respectively on Monday.
There are two ships namely Maersk Detroit and CSAV Tyndall carrying containers due to arrive on Tuesday.
