Sales tax officers' issues FBR chief forms high-powered body

Chairman Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Shabbar Zaidi has constituted a high powered committee to address the long standing service related issues of different cadres of sales tax officers. In this regard, the FBR has issued a notification here on Saturday.
The constitution of the high powered committee by the FBR would be instrumental in addressing issues of over 1000 sales tax officials in the country. Earlier the President Sales Tax Officers Association of Pakistan (STOAP) Raza Ashfaq Sheikh along with other STOAP office-bearers held a meeting with the FBR chief Shabbar Zaidi.
Under the notification, the FBR chief has constituted a high powered committee comprising Member IR Operations, Member IR Policy, Member Administration and Chief Management to address the long standing service related issues of different cadres of Sales Tax Officers.
The STOAP representatives presented budget proposals before the Chairman. The Chairman was also apprised of the long standing career issues of Sales Tax Officers including Cost Accountants, Inland Revenue Audit Officers, Senior Auditors Inland Revenue etc. In response, the Chairman FBR promised to look into the matter personally and issued instructions to constitute a joint committee comprising officers of FBR and members of STOAP to resolve the issues on priority.
The President STOAP was contacted to comment on the FBR's notification regarding constitution of committee. He said that the Chairman FBR has been kind enough to respond to the STOAP'S request in such a quick manner. He added that the prompt response on the part of Chairman FBR has been warmly welcomed by all the STOAP members all over Pakistan with an expectation that their long standing issues will be resolved this time under the kind control of the FBR Chairman. He also added that nominations of members of STOAP for the above said committee shall be forwarded to FBR.
