Prices of perishable kitchen items, especially vegetables, chicken, eggs and fruits, witnessed an increase during this week past as compared to preceding week, a survey conducted by Business Recorder revealed here on Saturday. Traders at wholesales market associated the increase in prices of vegetables and fruits with short supply due to Eid-ul-Fitr holidays and said that prices of all the vegetables and fruits will be normalised within the next couple of days with restoration of routine supply.
During the week under review, onion price went up from Rs 230 per 5kg to Rs 250 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 60 per kg against Rs 55-50 per kg, tomato price went up from Rs 150 per 5kg to Rs 200 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 50-55 per kg against Rs 40 per kg and potato price went up from Rs 120 per 5kg to Rs 150 perkg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 35 per kg against Rs 25-30 per kg.
Local garlic price went up from Rs 400 per 5kg to Rs 500 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 150 per kg against Rs 110 per kg; Chinese garlic price went up from Rs 650 per 5kg to Rs 760 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 200 per kg against Rs 180 per kg, ginger price remained stable at Rs 1,050 per 5kg, which in retail market was being sold at Rs 260 per kg.
Capsicum price went up from Rs 130 per 5kg to Rs 200 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 55 per kg against Rs 35 per kg; yam (arvi) price remained stable at Rs 200 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 50-55 per kg; China carrot price went up from Rs 100 per 5kg to Rs 150 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 35 per kg against Rs 25 per kg.
Cucumber price went up from Rs 75 per 5 kg to Rs 120 per 5 kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 35-40 per kg against Rs 20 per kg, cauliflower price went up from Rs 170 per 5kg to Rs 250 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 65-70 per kg against Rs 50-45 per kg and cabbage price went up from Rs 225 per 5kg to Rs 270 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 80 per kg against Rs 65-60 per kg. Lemon price went up from Rs 600 per 5kg to Rs 1,200 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 300 per kg against Rs 200 per kg. Fresh bean price went up from Rs 200 per 5kg to Rs 230 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 60 per kg against Rs 50 per kg. Pumpkin price went up from Rs 130 per 5kg to Rs 180 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 55-60 per kg against Rs 40-35 per kg, Brinjal price went up from Rs 150 per 5 kg to Rs 175 per 5 kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 50 per kg against Rs 40 per kg, and tinda price went up from Rs 75 per 5kg to Rs 200 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 50 per kg against Rs 20-25 per kg. Okra price went up from Rs 120 per 5kg to Rs 200 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 55-60 per kg against Rs 35-40 per kg, bitter gourd price went up from Rs 150 per 5 kg to Rs 225 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 60 per kg against Rs 35-40 per kg, and peas price remained stable at Rs 350 per 5kg which in retail market were being sold at Rs 90 per kg.
