Sui Northern Gas Pipeline Limited (SNGPL) has disconnected several illegal gas connections during ongoing crackdown against gas theft in Peshawar and other districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. According to the statement issued here on Sunday, SNGPL Peshawar task force teams up with FIA Peshawar and district administrations in several districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, several illegal gas connections of industrial, commercial and private housing societies have been disconnected.
SNGPL spokesman said that during the anti-theft operations in Karak, SNGPL has disconnected illegal gas connections of one plaster of Paris factory and three commercial gas connections of hotels and power generation units. FIRs have been lodged against owners of these Industries and commercial units and three persons namely Nasir khan, Khurshid Khattak and Ashfaq khan have been arrested.
According to SNGPL spokesperson, during these raids 14 illegal gas pipeline networks of various dia have been removed from gas supply mains in Karak and Kohat.
The sources also added that raids have been conducted in various areas of Peshawar including Pakha Ghulam Serband, Mathra, Sorizai, Tehkal, Regi, Sufaid Dheri, Badhber, Achar and Bahadar Kali, Marozai, Ahmad Khel, Chagar Matti and localities falling on Charsadda road. During these raids, 1150 feet illegal gas pipeline network, illegal gas connections and 29 tampered meters have been disconnected.
The sources also informed that during these operations, 01 illegal privately developed housing society has been disconnected on Charsadda road and owner of the society has been arrested by Khazana police station.
Meanwhile, SNGPL task force teams have disconnected illegal commercial gas connections of 2 hotels and 8 illegal private hostels. Applications have been submitted for lodging FIRs against the gas pilferers. The sources added that during these operations, gas volume of 39 MMCF amounting to Rs 37 million have been detected by SNGPL teams.
