Activities at Karachi and Qasim port

The Karachi Port handled 196,237 tonnes of cargo comprising 130,587 tonnes of import cargo and 65,650 tonnes of export cargo including 5,159 loaded and empty containers during the last 48 hours ending at 0700 hours on Monday. The total import cargos of 130,587 tonnes comprised of 66,230 tonnes of containerised cargo; 21,716 tonnes of bulk cargo and 42,641 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargos of 65,650 tonnes comprised of 40,000 tonnes of containerised cargo; 24,800 tonnes of clinkers and 850 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 5,159 containers comprising of 2,521 containers import and 2,638 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 921 of 20's and 688 of 40's loaded while 22 of 20's and 101 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 686 of 20's and 176 of 40's loaded containers while 280 of 20's and 660 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were eight ships namely Northern Discovery, Ever Delux, OOCL Chicago, MT Quetta, Glenda Meryl, Sea King, Grace and Da De carrying containers, oil tankers, clinkers and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were nine vessels viz. Hyundai Busan, Kota Kamil, MS Tiger, Ever Delux, Sea King, Everrich-5, Maistros, Arosa and Shandong Hai Sheng carrying containers oil tankers, wheat and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.

The total import cargo of 125,949 tonnes includes 6,214 tonnes of furnace oil; 1,900 tonnes of palm oil; 71,360 tonnes of LNG; 34,000 tonnes of coal; 4,064 tonnes of canola seeds; 7,062 tonnes of chemical and 1,349 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 3,135 tonnes includes 3,135 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 236 containers comprising of 71 containers import and 165 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday. There were three ships namely CMA CGM Medea, Cape Male and Golar Snow carrying containers and LNG respectively sailed out to sea on Monday morning, while another ship namely Zealand Amsterdam carrying coal is expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of nine vessels were occupied berths to load/offload containers, coal, soyabean seeds, chemical, LNG, furnace oil and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours. As many as ten vessels viz. MSC Bilbao, Ceylon Breeze, Vassos, Kiran America, Basch Hoek, Aeriko, Elbabe, Ginga Leopard, Gaslog Shanghai and Songa Topaz respectively carrying containers, soyabean, coal, chemical, LNG and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were four vessels viz. MSC Bilbao, Elbabe, Ileketa and Ginga Leopard carrying containers, coal and chemical respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Pakistan International Bulk Terminal and Engro Vopak Terminal respectively on Monday. There was one ship namely Ileketa carrying coal due to arrive on Monday, while two ships namely Maersk Columbus and APL Savannah carrying containers due to arrive on Tuesday.
