The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Friday arrested former president Asif Zardari's sister Faryal Talpur in the fake bank accounts case after Islamabad High Court (IHC) rejected her bail extension plea. The NAB team arrested Talpur, who is a member of Sindh provincial, following the anti-graft body chairman issued her arrest warrants. The bureau declared her residence - Zardari's House located in sector F-8/3 - as a sub jail.
Following the IHC's verdict and issuing of arrest warrants, the NAB informed Sindh assembly speaker through a letter that it was going to execute the warrants against Talpur. The NAB sources said that a team of doctors has conducted medical checkup of Talpur.
According to an official statement issued by NAB, it has arrested Faryal Talpur, MPA, in fake bank accounts case and she would be under house arrest till further orders. The bureau has always respected the self-respect of Talpur and will do so in future as well, it said.
Following the request of NAB, the city police deployed 12 female police personnel at Talpur's residence and enhanced security outside the Zardari's House.
Talpur did not appear before the accountability court on Friday and filed an exemption application before the court which the court accepted. The NAB had arrested Zardari on June 10 in the same case after the court rejected his bail extension application. The accountability court remanded Zardari into NAB custody till June 21.
