The Karachi Port handled 122,812 tonnes of cargo comprising 76,866 tonnes of import cargo and 45,946 tonnes of export cargo including 1,701 loaded and empty containers during the last 48 hours ending at 0700 hours on Monday.
The total import cargos of 76,866 tonnes comprised of 12,651 tonnes of containerised cargo; 5,432 tonnes of bulk cargo; 6,198 tonnes of canola and 52,585 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargos of 45,946 tonnes comprised of 9,083 tonnes of containerised cargo; 700 tonnes of bulk cargo; 19,030 tonnes of clinkers; 3,207 tonnes of wheat; 3,639 tonnes of rice; 737 tonnes of containers and 9,550 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
As many as 1,701 containers comprising of 634 containers import and 1,067 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 231 of 20's and 102 of 40's loaded while 11 of 20's and 94 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 202 of 20's and 160 of 40's loaded containers while 155 of 20's and 195 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were seven ships namely Cosco Thailand, Nord Spring, CSCL Sydney, Torm Aslaog, Chem Trader, Africa Star and Pacific Centurion carrying containers, oil tankers, steel and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were six vessels viz. Diyala, CSCL Sydney, Chem Trader, Breezy Victoria, Navig8 Ammolite and Ilektra carrying containers, oil tankers, chemical and talcum powder respectively currently at the berths.
