KATI concerned over hefty raise in charges by CAA

22 Jun, 2019

President of Korangi Association of Trade & Industry (KATI) Danish Khan has expressed concern over hefty increase in the throughput charges by Civil Aviation. He said that prices of a large amount of industry-related imports would increase after this decision. He said that industry is already facing high cost of production and due to this could not compete in international exports Market.
Senior Vice President and head of KATI's standing committee on Custom, Port & Shipping Faraz-ur-Rehman said that one time increase of 500 pc in throughput charges cannot be justified. He said asking for the additional charges on already paid consignments is unfair. Vice President Maheen Salman was of view that this action will adversely affect the import sector. "As a large amount of industrial raw material, machinery, spare parts etc. were imported and directly related to the industrial production, this move will even directly affect the production sector" he added. He demanded to revoke the additional charges.
