The Karachi Port handled 142,357 tonnes of cargo comprising 121,555 tonnes of import cargo and 20,802 tonnes of export cargo including 4,845 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Friday. The total import cargos of 121,555 tonnes comprised of 51,995 tonnes of containerised cargo; 1,836 tonnes of canola; 5,601 tonnes of DAP; 1,070 tonnes of palm kernel and 61,053 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargos of 20,802 tonnes comprised of 14,231 tonnes of containerised cargo; 424 tonnes of bulk cargo; 3,400 tonnes of talcum powder; 2,747 tonnes of rice and nil tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 4,845 containers comprising of 3,261 containers import and 1,584 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 1,149 of 20's and 1,054 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and 02 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 334 of 20's and 240 of 40's loaded containers while 410 of 20's and 180 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours. There were five ships namely Seaspan Yangize, ER Felixstowe, Celsius Miami, Maersk Progress and Ilektra carrying containers, chemical, mogas and talcum powder respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were three vessels viz. MOL Generosity, Seamax Bridgeport and African falcon carrying containers and barite lumps respectively currently at the berths.
A cargo volume of 128,803 tonnes comprising 76,370 tonnes of import cargo and 52,433 tonnes of export cargo including 2,802 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Friday. The total import cargo of 76,370 tonnes includes 17,500 tonnes of LNG; 11,000 tonnes of palm oil; 17,895 tonnes of coal; 14,130 tonnes of soyabean; 1,622 tonnes of chemical; 638 tonnes of project cargo and 13,585 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 52,433 tonnes includes; 12,780 tonnes of talcum powder and 39,653 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 2,802 containers comprising of 715 containers import and 2,087 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday. There were two ships namely BBC Sapphire and Argent Daisy carrying general cargo and palm oil respectively sailed out to sea on Friday morning, while another ship namely CMA CGM Titus carrying containers is expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of nine vessels were occupied berths to load/offload containers, general cargo, talcum powder, coal, soyabean, LNG and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours. As many as nine vessels viz. Anet, Chembulk Singapore, Chiarad Amato, Kiran Basporus, Zoes, Nord Mars, TBC Progress, NCC Qassim and Maritime Riyal respectively carrying general cargo, soyabean, canola seeds, rice, coal, diesel oil, palm kernel and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were three ships viz. Anet, Chembulk Singapore and Nord Mars respectively carrying cgeneral cargo, soyabean and diesel oil respectively expected to take berths at Multi Purpose Terminal, Grains and Furtilizer Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively on Friday. There was one ship namely New Bride carrying steel coil due to arrive on Friday, while five ships namely Diyala, Atlantic Flosta, GH Zephyr, Secon-7 and Al-Jassasiya carrying containers, steel coil and LNG respectively are due to arrive on Saturday.
